Here are some comments we've received about our productions:
"As a school counselor, I know that children can benefit from activities that build up their self-esteem. I believe that drama and music are two of these avenues. I have spent the time and been involved with the full experience of rehearsals, exercises, performances, etc with children involved in drama and have seen the results of a positive experience for all. I especially believe that children can benefit from the social interaction that goes along with this process. I strongly believe a child will benefit from the instruction, experience, and social growth that comes from being involved with Kids' Backporch Productions!!" - School counselor and cast member
"The minister of our church was in the audience on Friday along with his wife and grandson. He was very excited and impressed with the whole thing. He loves kids and really felt you did a fantastic job with the Narnia cast. He loved the sets and the costumes and just the whole presentation, and wants me to find out if it would be a possibility for you to bring a production to our church" -- Audience member
"'Let's Pretend' was a weekly radio broadcast for children in my early years (I'm now 77). I looked forward to this program every Saturday morning to hear a fairy tale and to let my imagination take me into the middle of the story. I have always loved theatre - dreamed of being involved, but not 'on stage'. I have found joy in making costumes, helping with mailing lists, helping the actors hang their costumes, and in simply moving racks of costumes from one room to another. There are many ways to be involved - many needs present themselves with each and every play. Simply v-o-l-u-n-t-e-e-r! It is very rewarding! "- Volunteer in the costume crew
"I wanted to say how wonderful your program is. My daughter did Annie Jr. with another theatre AFTER doing Annie with Kids' Backporch Productions last summer. I guess their focus was just different. There was no emphasis on acting at all and the auditions were so very simple. They only read one line from the script! The show was good, but not unique like your Annie Jr. The kids didn't get to 'make it their own' as you always said. Thanks, again, for providing such a wonderful environment for these kids and giving them the opportunity to truly be a part of the show. Your 'open ear' to listen to the kids' ideas made every child feel important and an important part of the show whether they had one line or thirty! Hats off to a great program." - Parent of Annie, Jr. cast member
